Privacy policy

This page says what Kloufi collects when you use it, why, for how long, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read: if a point is not clear, write to us.

1. Who processes your data

The website kloufi.com is published by Kloufi, Villa N°30, Cité Makoudi II, El Alia, Oued Smar, Algiers, Algeria. Contact: [email protected]. Kloufi is responsible for the processing described here, within the meaning of Law 18-07 of 10 June 2018 on the protection of natural persons in the processing of personal data (Algeria's data-protection law).

2. What happens when you search, without an account

Searching requires neither an account nor a cookie. Kloufi records the terms searched, with no link to you: they are used to improve suggestions and synonyms. They contain no address and no identifier.

Kloufi measures the use of its own site, without any third-party tool: a search, a filter, a click to a listing, a page with no results. These events carry the page, the term, the category and the device type, never your address. No advertising network, no external tracker.

Your display preferences (light or dark theme, dictation language, favourites without an account) stay in your browser and never leave it.

3. The Kloufi account

Creating an account is optional. It requires an e-mail address or a mobile phone number, a password and, if you wish, a first name. It is used to find your favourite listings and your saved searches on all your devices. You can attach an alert, daily or weekly, to a saved search: that choice is recorded; the sending of alerts by e-mail will be announced on the site when it opens.

Kloufi keeps in your account: your login, your first name if you have given it, the date and version of the terms you accepted, your favourites (identifier, title and address of the listing on Kloufi), your saved searches and their alert choice. The password is stored in an irreversible form.

Logging in sets a session cookie, necessary for the account to work, and nothing else. Kloufi does not sell, rent or pass on any account data, neither to the classifieds sites nor to anyone else.

You can view, correct and delete your account from your account area, at any time. Deletion removes your favourites and your searches; your login is released and can be used for a new account.

4. Applications for jobs at Kloufi

When you apply for a job at Kloufi (the “Careers” page), the form sends what you enter: your name, your e-mail address, your phone number and your LinkedIn link if you give them, your message and your CV (PDF or Word, 5 MB at most). Applying does not require an account.

The application is recorded in Kloufi's internal recruitment tool, with the CV attached and a note that it came from kloufi.com. Only the hiring team has access to it. It is used to consider your application and to reply to you; it is passed on to no one else.

It is kept for the duration of the recruitment, then deleted. You can ask for it to be deleted at any time at [email protected].

5. Voice search

When you use the microphone, your voice is turned into text by your browser's dictation service (Google on Chrome and Android, Apple on Safari and iPhone), then the text is interpreted on your device. Kloufi receives neither the audio nor the dictated text: only the search you confirm reaches it, as if you had typed it.

Kloufi keeps your last voice search in your browser, for ten minutes, in order to understand “avec parking” (with parking) or “finalement à Oran” (make that Oran). Nothing is sent or kept anywhere else.

6. Teach Kloufi: helping it understand a word

When Kloufi does not understand a word in your search, it may ask you what it means. Answering requires an account: your answer (the word, its meaning, the language, the market and the search it came from) is recorded with your account identifier, for moderation only, that is, to count each person's answers and to spot abuse; it is never displayed or passed on. It is reviewed by the Kloufi team before entering, where appropriate, the engine's vocabulary, without your identifier.

Kloufi also learns from searches with no results and from the rephrasings that follow them, with no link to a person: only the term, the market and the device type are analysed. If you delete your account, your answers are detached from your identifier and kept as plain contributions to the vocabulary; you can ask for them to be deleted at [email protected].

7. Listing photos

Photos come from the classifieds sites. Kloufi resizes them on its own servers for your screens and keeps them only for the duration of a technical cache.

When you leave a listing page, your browser tells Kloufi how many of its photos could be displayed and how many failed. This helps spot listings that have disappeared from their original site. This signal contains neither your address, nor a cookie, nor an identifier: Kloufi counts the distinct browsers of a day using a fingerprint that changes every day and does not allow you to be recognised from one day to the next. The country is kept, not the city or the address.

8. Listing data

The listings shown on Kloufi were published by their authors on public classifieds sites. Kloufi takes their title, description, price, location, photos and characteristics, and links back to the original listing. Advertisers' contact details are not shown on Kloufi.

If you are the author of a listing and no longer want it to appear on Kloufi, write to [email protected] with its address: it is removed within 48 hours. If it is removed from its original site, Kloufi removes it on its own.

Kloufi reads every listing with automatic rules to spot known signs of fraud, and compares its price with comparable listings (“Caution”, “Scam risk”). This processing concerns the text and the price of the listing, never you: there is no visitor profile and no decision taken about you.

When you report a listing, Kloufi records the listing identifier, the reason, your optional comment and the date, in a register of reports. No personal data is requested or recorded: your connection address is used only to limit the number of submissions per hour and is not kept in the report. Do not write personal data in the comment.

9. For how long

Searched terms and usage events: twelve months at most. Photo signals: 90 days. The account and its contents: as long as the account exists. Applications: for the duration of the recruitment. Listing reports contain no personal data and are kept to improve detection. The servers' technical logs, which contain connection addresses: a few weeks, for security.

10. Where the data is

Kloufi's servers are hosted in Europe (Germany and Finland), with a professional hosting provider, and administered by Kloufi. Account data and applications are stored there; they are passed on to no third party.

Traffic to kloufi.com goes through Cloudflare, a protection and delivery service placed in front of the servers. To route the pages and ward off attacks, Cloudflare sees your IP address and the transport headers of each request (page requested, browser, language) for as long as it takes to route it; content passes through it without being stored there.

This processing is governed by Law 18-07 of 10 June 2018. The National Authority for the Protection of Personal Data (ANPDP, Algeria's data-protection authority) is the authority with which you can lodge a complaint (see “Your rights”).

11. Your rights

You can request access to your data, its correction or its deletion, or object to a processing, by writing to [email protected]. For an account, all of this can also be done from your account area. Kloufi replies within one month. You can refer the matter to the ANPDP if you believe your rights are not being respected.

12. When this page changes

Kloufi updates this page when the product changes. The date at the top of the page is authoritative. Significant changes are announced on the site.
