Talk to Kloufi: voice search in French, Arabic and Darija

The microphone in the search bar listens to a whole sentence, in the language you actually speak, and turns it into a search with its filters. You read it over, correct it if needed, then launch it.

A sentence, not keywords

“Je cherche un appartement F3 à Oran à moins d'un milliard.” (I'm looking for a three-room flat in Oran under a billion.) “N7eb karhba automatique f Wahran matfoutch 300 million.” (I want an automatic car in Oran, no more than 300 million.) “شقة للكراء في باب الزوار.” (A flat to rent in Bab Ezzouar.) Kloufi recognises the market, the item or the brand, the place, the price, the year, the mileage, the fuel, the gearbox, and fills in the filters for you.

Algerian prices are understood the way people say them: “un milliard” (a billion centimes, that is 10 million DA), “300 millions”, “80 000 DA”, “entre 4 et 6 millions”.

You stay in control

Kloufi shows what it understood as a row of chips, with the text it heard, which you can correct on the keyboard. Nothing is sent until you tap “Search”. If a place is uncertain, it asks: “Did you mean Bir El Djir?”.

You can carry on the conversation: “avec parking” (with parking), “finalement à Mostaganem” (make that Mostaganem), “moins cher” (cheaper). Kloufi completes your previous search and says so; “Start over” forgets it. Switching language restarts listening.

What is recorded: nothing

Your voice is used for transcription and then disappears. Kloufi keeps neither the audio nor the dictated text. On Chrome and Safari, dictation uses your device's own service. On browsers without dictation, the microphone does not appear and the keyboard does everything.

Frequently asked questions

Which devices does it work on?

Chrome, Edge and Safari, on a computer or a phone, including from the installed Kloufi app. Firefox does not offer dictation yet.

Does Kloufi understand Darija?

Yes, in Latin letters as well as in Arabic script: karhba, partman, dar, khedma, wahran, dzayer, and common phrasings such as “matfoutch” for a maximum price.

What if Kloufi gets it wrong?

You correct the text it heard, or tap “Try again”. No search is sent without your confirmation.

Try it now

Say “F3 à Oran moins d'un milliard” (a three-room flat in Oran under a billion centimes) or “نحب كرهبة automatique في وهران” (I want an automatic car in Oran): Kloufi understands the place, the price and the item, and prepares the search. You confirm.
